Cocoa

Coco is the sweetest 7 year old pup who was surrendered to a North Carolina shelter due to seizures.  We accepted her to OBG and she was suffering not only frequent seizures but also hypertension, infections of ears, skin and paws and liver issues. In an effort to determine if her seizures were due to epilepsy or a brain tumor, Cocoa needed a neurology consult and an MRI. Good news is that she has epilepsy! Next step was to try to treat her horrific ear and skin infections. Cocoa visited the dermatologist who confirmed that she required bilateral Total Ear Canal Ablation surgery. Before she could have this surgery, Cocoa started seizing again every few hours and required an overnight visit to the Emergency Vet. Through all of these visits, Cocoa has remained the sweetest girl who loves tummy and chin rubs and always has her sweet little tongue out. Finally with the seizures under control, Cocoa had her bilateral Total Ear Canal Ablation surgery two weeks ago and is healing nicely. Cocoa’s total medical expenses to date exceed $10,000.00.

During this time, her wonderful foster family was the key to getting Cocoa the medical care and fell in love with her and they are now making her a permanent member of their family!  YAY!
